Today we learned about toxicity! This means we looked at how dangerous different chemicals are. We started by learning about how toxic candy can be (specifically sucrose). First, watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNOycTzN-fg
Second, use this formula to calculate how much candy it would take to kill you: (W x 13.5)/19.5 = amount of fun-size candy bars it would take to kill you W = weight of the person Calculate how many candy bars this would be for you own weight, then write that in your lab notebook. Class A and B did a lab today. This one is titled Acute Toxicity. Acute toxicity just means an exposure to a chemical over a very short amount of time. We did a lab to investigate how much of a potentially toxic substance it would take to kill 50% of a population of rats (this amount is referred to as the LD50 of that substance). On Thursday I will post a photo of the lab results for anyone who missed it. Finally, today everyone joined google classroom! Here are the join codes for the different classes. We will complete the assignment here tomorrow! Class A: a5uow7g Class B: qpq7sws Class C: mr67yfc Class D: mjqfbvb If you are not sure which class you are in, please email me!
