Today we started reading about Reducing Environmental Health Risk. This contains the work to be done by the end of next class. We have two focuses: First, review our vocabulary from yesterday (voluntary, involuntary, and trade-off), and apply those to environmental risks. We will look at lifetime risks of the activities we discussed yesterday. Second, today we will introduce labs and lab safety with a serial dilution to show how different substances are measured. This will introduce the idea of parts per million (ppm). This is a measure of concentration.
