This weekend there is a cool opportunity to give back to your community. Are you an artist? You can win a prize and make your community more beautiful by contributing to a mural. See more here!
Today we will continue working on our post-labs, lab plans, and DP updates. Don't forget, the lab planning is on Google Classroom. Today we focused on the post-lab for the flame tests. We also added some additional information about our periodic tables: valence electrons!
Today we are introducing changes to the environment into our learning and looking at the world from the perspective of energy. We are also beginning to develop ideas for our own labs, which will be performed throughout the semester.
We will begin with the Background Reading for the flame tests. The Pre-Lab is required before you enter the lab tomorrow, so please complete it in class today. Lab design is due on September 21st, with the rest of your portfolio. Sign up for Google Classroom to access this! Class A: evv6fq7 Class B: 5575qh Today's schedule looks a bit different to accommodate some data sharing on our team. During 3rd period, groups will share data with one another to analyze the water quality of their own sample and the class samples from the first day of school. A DP update will be started. The guidelines for the DP update are here. The self-assessment can be found below.
Today we gave talks about nutrients and pollutants! Those who did not yet give a talk will give theirs tomorrow. If you missed school today, check with someone in class who was taking good notes for key information to help you interpret your data tomorrow. Keep in mind that for Friday our schedule looks a little different!
Today we will finish polishing up our presentations. Not sure how you're being assessed? Check out the rubric! Today we will also continue working on math concepts for chemistry and do some math review at the start!
Friday we finished up a lot of our lab measurements. Today we will finalize our lab measurements and introduce gas laws. Many students will begin working on their gas laws problem set, but it is ok if you did not yet receive it today. We will continue adding to it later. See the end of this blog post if you need to download a new copy of the gas laws problems.
